Mrs. Barbara Gunter was elected to the Board of Education in November 2005. She was elected to a 4 year term that will expire in 2010. Upon taking office she was appointed to the Financial Forecasting Advisory Committee and Policy/Bylaws Committee. Her education includes a Bachelor of Science from Columbus State University, with a major in biology and chemistry and a minor in education, she also attended The University of Missouri. While a resident of Missouri, from 1984 - 1993, she spent 8 years employed as a mediator/interpreter for the public school system. During that time, Barbara had the privilege of working for 2 nationally recognized schools of excellence. She is passionate in her commitment to public education. Her goal is to achieve greater community involment with the school district through improved communications, resulting in positive growth and change for all stakeholders.
